- Even if you are not going to use the internet to advertise or market your car, you should use the internet before hand in order to get a good price in mind. Check used car website to see how much the car you wish to sell is going for, also look for any valuation tools and they will price your used car for you.
- Before your buyer comes to buy/test drive your car make sure you have cleaned it on the outside and on the internet, you’ve already done the hard part, not you have to let the car sell itself and to do this it has to look nice. That means getting rid of any fast food boxes and clearing your boot so they can get a good idea of luggage space.
- Invest a little time and effort on making your car look as new as possible, touch up and chips in the paint.
- Make sure it has a pretty recent MoT.
- Gather every single piece of paperwork which can serve to show how well you have looked after your car as this will work in your favour and help justify any price you make.
Online/advertising
- When putting your used car online you are actively advertising your car, so make sure you include all the details possible and a check over it to make sure there are no mistakes in the information which you provide, for this will only waste you more time down the line.
- It is also important that you are as honest as possible even if you think disclosing the truth will turn buyers away, it will again save you much time and hassle further down the line.
- Details you should include: colour, mileage, number of owners, service history, reg year, the exact model and finally your contact details! All are essential if you want leads.
- Include a colour photograph if possible.
